Economic and Cultural Aspects: Europeans   Characteristics in Buenos Aires.

"Hotel de los Inmigrantes", one of the most important historical buildings in the City of Buenos Aires.

Fact: In the hotel there was an Immigration Commission in charge of looking for a job for immigrants. They had five days free to get a job


An aspect to highlight is a  wave of European migrations, in particular Italians, Spanish and French  in the first decades of the nineteenth century. Immigrants began to work in the construction sector mainly in the construction of the railway, also they worked in the ports of Buenos Aires helping to development of foreing trade.


 Architecture, Art and Dishes: European Contribution.

Colon Theater in its first years of opening. It was built between 1885 and 1895. 

It has the inspiration of an Italian opera house. 










It has influences that mixes Italian Renaissance and French Baroque. By the way, the architects of this building had been from Italy and Belgium. 





Fact: the word “pibe” comes from pive, that means apprentice in the Genova’s language.

Also into the culture of the literature argentin there are clout spanish.

Argentine Gatronomy: European Roots

Italian cuisine is very important in Argentine gastronomy, mainly in the preparation of pasta like ravioli, tallarines and pesto. Alfajores also have a great influence from Spanish desserts.
